How to Travel with your Wedding Dress?

You've picked your perfect gown, now how to ensure it arrives at your destination wedding location in one piece, clean and ready for your big day?
1. Ship your dress. Use services like Fed Ex, DHL etc . Skip fretting about lugging your dress around the airport or risk trying to hang it in an airplane closet. This is the best if you have a large dress that will not fit in a small space.
2. Carry-on. I do not recommend packing your dress in your checked-in luggage. There is potential for your dress to be lost, delayed or damaged. You can call the airline to verify space for a wedding dress. Try to board first, ask the attendent if there is a closet (usually located in first class if at all) that has room to hang your dress. If not, you will be placing it in the overhead bins. A puffy cinderella dress will not fit in the overhead bins! The garment bag should be no longer than 54 inches long and you will be expected to fold your dress in half to place in the overhead bin, if it cannot be hung in a closet.
3. Call me crazy but you can buy a seat for your dress on the plane.
4. Be pleasent. When asking the flight attendent for help with your dress you do not want to come off as demanding.
5. Once in destination have the resort steam or press your dress to take out any wrinkles that may have occurred from transporting it! Sometimes you can just hang your dress and the humudity in a hot destination will ease out any wrinkles in hardly any time at all.
