You have picked your wedding package, have your travel all set and now wondering about wedding photography. Do you go with the resort recommendation or do you bring along a professional photographer from home? If your wedding photographs are important to you, you will want to take the time to make the right choice.

*If you are really carefree, perhaps having your guests take as many pictures as they can is perfect for you. For a professional touch, perhaps you hire the resort affiliated professional. Word of warning: find out as much as you can about the local photographer. Does he have a website? Gallery of past pictures? Are the pictures your style? Is there a forum out there discussing wedding photographs at this resort? Also, check on the prices.

Keep in mind that for Destination Weddings you are usually with your family for a 7 day period and perhaps you would want professional pictures taken not just on the Big Day. Do you want to capture the moments at your rehearsal dinner, special spa day or on a group excursion, morning after champagne breakfast with your family?

*Is there a certain look or style you are aiming for in your wedding pictures? Then you may find it best to hire a professional photographer in Canada to capture your Big Day abroad to avoid any disappointment.
Look for a professional who specializes in weddings and perhaps has even done a few destination weddings. Most wedding photographers will do a few destination weddings a year.

Do ask to see past work and look through their website. Because you are often in the same city, you have the chance to meet in person as well. This person will be with you for the entire time and it is important that they will ‘fit in’ with your family and friends and that they make you feel comfortable in front of the camera. Also, do find a photographer who is able to handle the unexpected and be able to go with any changes and stay calm.

Hiring a photographer to take along allows the photographer to get to know you and your friends and family and capture moments all throughout your trip. A few days before your wedding date, he/she should be scouting out the area and surroundings for perfect locations for pictures.

The cost of hiring a photographer to come along to your destination wedding can vary. You will pay the travel costs and then decide on a package that the photographer will offer you. When booking a group of people together for your wedding, there is often a group discount such as 1 in so many adults go for free or 1 room free etc. Many brides and grooms will choose to use this promotion to ease the cost of taking a photographer along with them!
